Haptics-e Intellectual Property Policy Background

The initial draft Intellectual Property Policy was discussed and revised at the Asilomar Haptics workshop, Dec 7-9, 1997.

Minor revisions to the consent form were made 2-Feb-2000.

In drafting this discussion document, I have relied on useful information such as An Intellectual Property Law Primer for Multimedia and Web Developers, from the Electronic Freedom Foundation, and other intellectual property information at the Berkeley Digital Library Project. When we agree on a policy we will no doubt need at advice of legal council. However the way to make most use of legal advice is to go in with a mature idea of what we want to do.
